Scottie Thompson Starts PBA Dream In Davao City


Before making it to the Philippine Basketball Association fast rising Ginebra guard Scottie Thompson started his high school career at Cor Jesu College in Digos City, Davao del Sur and Agro Industrial Foundation College in Ecoland, Davao City.

Thompson who is one of the top young PBA stars today started the first three years of his high school basketball career at Cor Jesu before he eventually decided to transfer to Agro in his senior year to gain more exposure and experience. After transferring to Agro, the Digos City native Thompson started to get known due to his rebounding and tenacity despite only standing at 6'1.

As a fourth year high school player of Agro, Thompson became part of the squad that represented Region XI in the 2010 edition of the Palarong Pambansa in Tarlac, where he was discovered by
former University of Perpetual Help juniors coach Tonichi Pujante. Thompson moved to Las PiƱas that same year.

Thompson had a colorful college career as a member of the Altas before deciding to enter the PBA where he was drafted by Ginebra in 2015. In the ongoing PBA All Filipino Cup Finals, Thompson is playing significant role for his team providing scoring and rebounding against the defending champion San Miguel Beer.




Top Car Racers In Mindanao Are Set To Join 2017 Petron Ultron Pro Drag Race and Autocross Championships

Eighty of the top racers in Mindanao are set to participate in the 2017 Petron Ultron Pro Drag Race and Autocross Championships on March 11-12 2017 at the Speed City Crocodile Park, Maa, Davao City.

Jonathan George Uy, the race chairman said 50 of the racers in the two-day event will come from Davao City and the rest from the cities of Cotabato, Iligan and Cagayan de Oro City. Uy said the race organized by Racing Line and Petron Ultron is part of the many sport activities for the 80th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

He said Racing Line and Petron Ultron are very excited to organized the event since the last time the same kind of motoring event was held it was way back in 2006. "we are very excited to bring back Autocross racing to the place we it started in 2006," Uy told reporters in a press conference yesterday. Autocross racing is a time trial competition.

In this kind of racing a driver navigates around the different obstacles using pylons/cones. The fast time will win the race. "What makes this race exciting is the fact that drivers can actually use daily driven cars and there is no more need for modification," Uy said.

He said interested participants need to pay P5,000 for class A, P3,5000 for Class B and C.
A one gallon of Petron Ultron will also be given to the particants. A P1,000 registration is set for the autocross race which also includes one liter of Petron Ulton sem-synthetic oil.

Meanwhile, Drex Norrizz Libaton, area sales executive for Lubes and Greases of Petron called on the public to join and watch the race since they will be giving a 20 percent off on their various producs.
"As the leading fuel company in the Philippines Petron is fully supporting this race to promote autocross racing in this side of the Philippines," Libaton said.

Southshield FC Rules 80th Araw ng Dabaw Football Festival



The Southshield Football Club 10 and under team lead by their coach Ronald Manabit won the 80th Araw ng Dabaw football festival at the University of the Philippines football field in Bago Oshiro, Mintal, Davao City.


The Southshield Football Club won two trophies in the recent 80th Araw ng Dabaw football festival at the University of the Philippines football field in Bago Oshiro, Mintal, Davao City.

The 10 and under team of Southshield FC won the championship in their division after beating Hyenas 2-1 in the Finals last March 4. Southshield FC striker Karl Sumampong provided the two goals for the team in their win.

Aside from Sumampong, the team coached by former University of Mindanao soccer player Ronald Manabit are also composed of Louiz Herrera,  Yuan Guingguing, AJ Guingguing, Charles Kenn  Chiu, Art Eroy, Zyk  Lopez, James, Anthony Elorde, and Gerardo Coronado. With their win the team recieved a championship tropy and medals for the players.

The 12 and under team of Southshield FC who are mostly made up of students from Southpoint School also finished second in their division after falling short against Hyenas in the championship round. The team coached by former UM soccer plaer Angelo John Adana are made up of Adrian Elarmo, Duayne Morales, CJ Cabigas, Hendrich Denila, Gian Carlos Lacerna, Carlos Angelo Lacerna, Alexis Tabada, Simone Guerrero, and Nei Imperial.
