Maa cager plays bench role for UAAP champs NU Bullpups

DAVAO CITY---Unknown to many a promising center from Barangay Maa here played an important role in helping the  Nazareth School of National University Bullpugs win its second straight UAAP high school boys basketball title last March 9 at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Aaron Buensalida scored two points and contributed some rebounds and assisst in the Bullpups win over the Far Eastern University-Diliman, 87-80, in Game 2 of their  best of three finals series .
Buensalida,  a former elementary varsity player of Batulosa Elementary School in Toril played a crucial role from the bench for the Bullpups in their championship run.
Although he just played in limited minutes for the team he still contributes in points, rebounds,  assisst and defense in the course of the UAAP juniors basketball competition.
Before their back to back UAAP juniors basketball title, Buensalida also helped the team win the 2019 Palarong Pambansa high school basketball title in Davao City.
The 6'4 center is also part of the NU team that helped the Philippines win the  10th Asean School Games high school basketball title  in Semarang, Indonesia last year.
The promising Davaoeno cager is also part of the NU team who won the same title in the 9th Asean School Games in Malaysia.
Buensalida got recruited by NU for helping Davao City won the gold medal in the 2015 Palarong Pambansa elementary basketball in Tagum City.
The young cager played superb in their gold medal win as he scored and rebounds big for Davao City which drove NU to recruit him to their basketball program.

Southshield, Rovers FCs wins championship crowns in Philam Life football tourney

DAVAO CITY---Southshield and Rovers football clubs won the championship crowns in their respective divisions in the 2020 Philam Life 7's Football League at the Azuela Cove in Lanang here last March 8.
Southshield FC won the 15 and under boys crown after beating AMSAI FC in their championship game 4-0.
The winning goals for Southshield FC, who is based in Barangay Maa here were provided by Cian Nogadas, Alchie Jan Campana, Gerardo Coronado and Kelso Aquino.
The team coached by Jessie Gravino are also composed of AJ Guinguing, Carlos Angelo Lacerna, Victor Lagundi, EJ Cabiles, Karl Sumampong, Ethan Grando, Matt Lim, Miguel Fabello, Miguel Cerin, and River Concha.
Instsik Lacerna, the mother of one of members of the champion team revealed the team is playing inspired in their championship match to honor the death of Renelle Pino, a Southshield FC coach who recently died due to a motorcycle accident.
Aside from the championship, seven special awards were also given to the outstanding footballers in the tournament namely Gian Lacerna, Kyle Sy, Josh Vidal, Nimrod Palabino, Vicror Lagundi, Cian Nogadas and Matt Lim.
Meanwhile, Rovers FC won the championship in the nine under category after beating the Rizal Memorial Colleges FC in a penalty shoot-out 2-0.
The winning goals for Rovers FC were provided by Gabriel Marcus Risonar and Ethan Sky Reyes.
The champion team are also composed of Luis Oliver Buenaventura, Joshua Patawaran, Joshua Gregory Calamba, Marielle Sarica Miree Cabalfin, John Michael Garrido, Zian Eya Yao, Santiago Lamorena, Yuan Nash Tajon, Carlos Andre Morales, Alessandro Veil Centina, and Miguel Christian Librando.
The championship was sweet for the  team because they  went undefeated in the whole tournament beating all the other eight teams.
