Davao City native Baser Amer has been tagged by some basketball experts as the next Jimmy Alapag in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Amer who is currently playing for Meralco Bolts is flying high in the ongoing PBA Commissioners Cup as he leads the playmaking duties for his team. The former player of Holy Child of Davao is not only dishing out assists for his teammates but also providing scoring for his team as well.
The inspired play of the Barangay Maa, Davao City player has lead Meralco to an impressive 4-1 record in the ongoing conference. No less than the recently retired PBA player Alapag, who happens to be the assistant coach of Meralco is impressed on the performance of Amer.
Alapag said the way Amer is playing he could even surpassed his achievements in the PBA and in international basketball play. “By the time when all things are said and done, I hope he can surpass what I was fortunate to do in my career,” Alapag said.
“At the end of the day, that's the nature of the game, you try your best when you're competing and you're training… after that, you look back and say, ‘hey I did pretty well,’” Alapag added.
