VXI Robinsons to Face TP In Inter BPO Basketfest Finals


The hungry VXI Robinsons is ready to bring down defending champion Teleperformance (TP) in the championship of the avao Inter-BPO League (DIBL) set on Sunday, July 9, at the MontaƱa Recreation and Fitness Center in Davao City.
VXI Robinsons player BJ Javier said the team is very hungry for a title and will do their best to beat TP and deny them a third straight championships.
Javier's teammate Leo Villariez also added that their team will practice hard so that they can bring home the championship come Sunday.
VXI Robinsons reached the championship round after beating VXI SM, 53-31 in the semifinals.
TP for its part said they will triple their effort to ensure they can keep their crown and achieve a rare three-peat.
Guesting before the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the NCCC Mall on Thursday, Lou Gracilla said TP will follow the system of their coach for them to win on Sunday.
TP reached the finals after beating Offsourcing Philippines, 50-39 in the other semifinal game last week.

Southshield Wins Football Tilt In Samal Island


The young footbal players of Southshield Football Club has recently brought their winning ways in the scenic Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).
The 10 and under division of Southshield FC won the championship in their category at the 1st Sagrado de Jesus Footfest in Barangay Libertad, Kaputian IGACOS.
The team coached by former University of Mindanao football player Roland Manabit beat the Kidapawan Football Club in a thrilling penalty shoot-out 2-1.
Strikers Carlos Donado and Anthony Elorde provided the winning goals for Southshield FC after the main man of the team Yuan Guingguing was guarded closely by Kidapawan defenders.
The other members of the team who won a trophy, medals and cash prizes are the following: Zyk Lopoez, Charles Chiu, Luiz Digman, Art Eroy, Gian Goyonan, Niel Imperial, James Gamete, Kael Morata and Enzo Trinidad.
Aside from the championship trophy, the 13 and under team of Southshield also won the third place in their division.
The team coached by former UM player AJ Adana are composed of Adrian Elarmo, Gian Carlos Lacerna, Carlos Angelo Lacerna, Simone Axelle Guerrero, Karl Sumampong, Raymond Greg Pahuyo, Ahron Pelonio, Alexis Tabada, Rhyan Dordas, AJ Guingguing and Louis Herrera.
The team won a tropy, medals and cash prizes for their win.
Carlo Chiu, the president of Southshield FC is very pleased with their win since their long travel has been rewarded with a championship.
Chiu is also happy since the organizers of the tournament also gave free jerseys and mugs to the participants.

Ancajas Wins 2nd Boxing Title Defense In Australia


Panabo City boxing champion Jerwin Ancajas has successfully defended his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior bantamweight in the main undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn bout at the Suncorp Stadium on a
sunny Sunday afternoon.
Ancajas scored a technical knockout win over Teiru Kinoshita to successfully defend his tite for the second time.
Ancajas slowly broke down the taller
Korean challenger of Japanese descent before delivering the coup the grace with a vicious right hook to the body that sent
Kinoshita down on his knees. While he did beat the count, Kinoshita still appeared wobbly upon getting up, prompting the
referee to stop the fight that serves as the main undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn welterweight title bout.
The end came at the 1:53 mark of the seventh round to the delight of the Filipino crowd.
 The Filipino southpaw improved to 27-1-1 (win-loss-draw) with 18 KOs.
Ancasjas won the title from McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico
last year. Better things are now expected to come the way of the Panabo City, Davao del Norte native after making an
impression in his first fight beamed live on free TV in the rich U.S.market through ESPN. Ancajas already had Kinoshita in
trouble in the second round when a strong left hook left the challenger with a cut just above the right eye.
Kinoshita though managed to put up a fight despite blood dripping from the cut. He actually had two good rounds before the
sudden end to the bout came midway through the seventh. His record now stands at 25-2-1 with 8 KOs.

Davaoena Tancontian Wins Gold In UP Judo Tilt


Fresh from winning two gold medals at an international judo competition in Singapore, Davaoena Sydney Sy Tancontian won another gold medal in the recent 2017 University of the Philippine (UP) Diliman
Slam Judo Competition held at the Markina Sports Complex.
Tanconatian,a judo varsity player of University of Sto. Tomas (UST) won the women's -78 kilogram division after beating a judo player from UP.
The promising judo player earlier beat her teammate  Krishanlynd Sapi to moved into the finals of her division.
Prior to her win Singapore, Tancontian also won two gold medals at the De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ) Brother Ceci Hojilla Judo Cup held at the DLSZ Alabang,
Muntinlupa City.
The 17 year-old 3rd Kyu brown-belt is very happy with her win and she hoped to win more competitions this year.
Tancontian who remains humble despite her many wins said she is still learning and improviding her sport.
