TROPA Mindanao Marks 15 Years of Media-Military Unity with Milestone Celebration in Davao City

The Tri-Media Organization for Peace and Alliance in Mindanao, also known as TROPA Mindanao, ended August with a memorable celebration of its 15th anniversary and the induction of its new officers on August 31 at Hogshead along Circumferential Road, Davao City. This occasion marked the first time TROPA celebrated its anniversary since its founding in 2009, making the event particularly special for its members and supporters.

The celebration kicked off with an opening speech by TROPA Vice President and veteran broadcaster Allan Abais from XFM Radio. In his remarks, Abais highlighted TROPA's significant role in supporting the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) by promoting its programs and plans to the public. He also noted TROPA's efforts in countering the black propaganda spread by the New People’s Army during the peak of the insurgency a few years ago.

The event was graced by prominent figures from the government, private sectors, and military. Among the attendees was OCD Director Ednar Dayanghirang, who officiated the oath of office for the newly elected officers led by President Manny Autida, a veteran broadcaster and one of TROPA's founding members. Corporate lawyer and businessman Ralph Jude Yap also attended as the keynote speaker, delivering an inspiring address.

Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Garcia, Commanding Officer of the 56th Tatag Infantry Battalion, and Colonel Ma. Cristina Rosete-Manuel were present and received awards from TROPA for their invaluable support over the past 15 years. Major Ruben Gadot, spokesperson for the 10th Infantry Division (Agila Division), also attended and presented TROPA with an award recognizing its partnership with the AFP in promoting its programs and combating insurgency.

A representative from the Office of the Davao de Oro Vice Governor Tyrone Uy was also in attendance, showing support for TROPA's ongoing efforts. During the oath-taking ceremony, the newly inducted officers pledged to fulfill their responsibilities diligently and work towards furthering TROPA's growth in the coming years.

In his speech, President Manny Autida expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported TROPA since its inception. He also highlighted TROPA's crucial role in aiding the AFP's efforts against communist propaganda, which contributed to the declaration of an insurgency-free Davao region over the past two years.

The event marked a significant milestone for TROPA Mindanao, celebrating its achievements and reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace and development in Mindanao. With strong support from various sectors, TROPA is poised to continue its mission of fostering collaboration between the media and military in the years to come.(Bob Braceros)
