Since becoming a public servant in 2008, Rolando Trajera has helped hundreds of scholars graduate

One of the shining legacies of Barangay 76-A barangay captain Rolando Trajera since he became a public servant in 2008 is the handing out scholarship grants to deserving students in his barangay.

Trajera said since he became a barangay councilor in 2008, it had become his program to give scholarship grants to students through the office of then-first district congressman Karlo Nograles.

Trajera said he continued the program from 2008 until today.

He said since he started the program, he estimated that he helped more than 500 scholars graduate and find a good job.

"Lipay ko kay daghan sa nahatagan nako ug scholarship moduol nako magpasalamat ug moingon na naka graduate sila tungod nako," Trajera told the Latest Davao News.

Trajera, who is running for another term as barangay captain, said he will continue handing down scholarship grants if he ever gets another term as barangay chairman in this year's Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections slated on October 30.

Sports program thrived in Barangay 76-A under Rolando Trajera's leadership

One of the significant achievements under Rolando Trajera's term as barangay captain in Barangay 76-A is the strong development of the sports program of the barangay.

Under Trajera's leadership, the barangay has won numerous sports competitions that brought honor to the barangay and to the rest of Davao City.

Trajera, a retired police officer, has made it a point to support all the sports grassroots programs in his barangay.

Due to the strong support of Trajera for sports, some members of the youth football team of Barangay 76-A got the chance to play in the national competition.

As a barangay captain, Trajera is very proud and happy with the achievements of the young footballers.

Trajera, running for reelection in this year's Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election, promises to focus even further on sports if he ever gets another term as barangay chairman of Barangay 76-A.

Retired cop ends up serving Barangay 76-A for 15 years and counting

A retired policeman who had initially no intention of running for public office has ended up serving Barangay 76-A for the past 15 years.

Rolando Trajera, the incumbent barangay captain of Barangay 76-A, said in 2008, after he retired from the Philippine National Police, some of his neighbors approached and persuaded him to run as barangay councilor.

Trajera told the Latest Davao News that he initially had no intention of running since he wanted to enjoy his retirement benefits as a policeman.

He said due to the persistent call of his neighbors that he entered public office, he eventually accepted the offer and ended up winning as barangay councilor.

The former policeman said he immediately got to work after being elected as barangay councilor. As years passed, he learned to love his job and public service.

In 2013, he decided to run as barangay captain in the biggest barangay in Davao City and ended up winning in a tightly contested election.

In his years as barangay chairman, he initiated many projects in Baranay 76-A that benefitted the residents, including infrastructure, livelihood, health services, and scholarships.

From being a reluctant candidate in 2008, Trajera has ended up serving Barangay 76-A for the past 15 years and counting.
