Davis Cup veteran from Butuan City wins tennis tourney in Panabo City

A 38-year-old Davis Cup veteran from Butuan City has used his vast professional tennis experience to rule the  2nd Mayor James Gamao Cup National Invitational Tennis Championship at the Panabo City twin courts in Panabo City, Davao del Norte last June 16.
Johnny Arcilla beat 18-year-old fast rising tennis star John Bryan Otico of Maramag City, Bukidnon  6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to win the national tennis tournament organized by the For the Love of Tennis (Flot) Group of Merco president Anton Ferrazzini.
The win is extra-sweet for Arcilla since he was able to withstand his shoulder injury to beat the youthful Otico who beat him in the second set.
Arcilla leaned on his service aces and consistent volleys to prevail over Otico in their match.
Despite his defeat, Otico is still happy because he and his University of the East partner Rolly John Saga won the doubles event in the tournament that offers P125,000 total cash prizes to the winners.
Otico-Saga survived bea  Francis Casey Alcantara and Jan Godfrey Seno, 7-6, 7-6, in the championship match.
