For the second straight year the visiting University of Mindanao (UM) Tagum City ruled the 2018 Rebisco Volleyball League Regional Finals girls 18 and below tournament last une 4 at Martin Hall of Addu Jacinto campus.
UM Tagum beat the host Ateneo de Davao University (Addu), 16-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19, 15-12, in the finals to successfully defend their crown.
Wih their win, UM Tagum will represent Southern Mindanao in the National Finals in November at the Ynares Sports Complex in
Pasig City.
The team coached by Michael Angelo Paulo also won P25,000 worth of Mikasa equipment, Rebisco giveaways, shirts from Rain or Shine, trophy and medals.
UM Tagum's Breyanna Kathleen Torejos Sasil won most valuable player (MVP) for the second straight year for leading her team to vicory against ADDU.
Paulo said the team will practice hard to surpass their fifh place finish in the national finals last year.
He said they also plan to get some reinforcements from ADDU to become more competitive in the naional finals.
Some special awards were also given to promising players in the tournament such as Addu's Takako Fujimoto (best setter), Kyla Codora (best first outside attacker),
Janna Cane (best second middle blocker) and Keanna Adalo (best libero), UM Tagum's Maxene Joyce Tayag (best second outside
attacker) and Bianco Ordoña (best first middle blocker) and Elizabeth Cabatingan of Cor Jesu College of Digos (best opposite attacker).
Meanwhile, the visiting Cor Jesu College of Digos City took the third place after beating Sto. Niño National High School, 25-22 and 25-23, in their battle for third.
