Davao Wisdom Academy, Philippine Nikkei Jinkai tops 4th UM Inter-School Invitational Chess Championship

The promising chessers from Davao Wisdom Academy and Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai Philippines were the big winners in the 4th University of Mindanao Inter-School Invitational Chess Championship at the UM Matina, Davao City last February 22-23.
Queen Peralta of Davao Wisdom Academy scored 5.5 points after six rounds to win the tournament which features the top under 20 chess players in region 11.
Nathalie Suter of Philippine Nikkei JinKai International School placed second in the chessfest sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines after scoring five points.
The third place went to Yreil Josh Hernani of Pathway Christian Academy who scored four points.
Aside from the top three placers some special awards were also given to the chess players who topped their respective age-groups.
Arlon Lance Diaz (Top Under 16 boys), Paul Emmanuel Habaradas (Top Under 14 boys), Javie Marie Antalan (Top Under 14 girls), Namael Naetan Antalan (Top 12 Under boys), Princes Diana Simbajon (Top 12 Under girls), James Breyent Kent Diabakid (Top 10 Under boys) and Zyle Rafaelle Go (Top Under 8 boys).
All winners received medals and certificates as prizes.
The chessfest was organized by UM to promote chess at the grassroots level.
