JMC, PWC wins DC Sr. HS basketball crown

The Jose Maria College (JMC) Kings survived a tough challenge from the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Bulldogs 77-73 in game two to win their best-of-three championship series in the Davao Pride Basketball League’s (DPBL) senior high school division.
Playing catch-up in the first two quarters of the game, the Kings relied on the scoring of forward James Payosing to escape the upset conscious Bulldogs in their game on February 23 at the RMC Petro Gazz Arena.
Payosing, a high flying forward scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to carry his team to victory over the home-team Bulldogs.
Playing in-front of their fans, the Bulldogs started strong in the first two quarters of the game behind the strong scoring of Dave Bragat who returned to the game after getting suspended in the fist game due to unsportsmanlike behavior.
Payosing and his teammates started to tighten their defense in the third quarter and finally take a slim 58-57 lead.
In the last quarter the two teams fought toe to toe but Payosing proved clutch in the end as the Kings eventually beat the Bulldogs and sweep their championship match up two games to none.
Bragat scored 10 points for the Bulldogs in a losing cause.
With his game long brilliance, Payosing was declared as the most valuable player in the finals.
The Kings gets a  cash prize and a trophy as prizes for their win.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Women's College (PWC) Patriots won division B of the senior high school division after beating the tough Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM) Legions 77-73.
The Patriots who won game one of their best of three championship series 72-62, won their match-up via a sweep two games to none.
Patriots shooter Paul Langa scored 18 points for his team in their victory.
The Patriots, coached by Butching Bencio  also receive a cash prize and a trophy as prizes for their victory.
