DAVAO CITY---The gold medalist here will have to wait for four more years before they can defend their crows in the friendly sporting tournament Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia.
This developed after the organizers of the Arafura Games has decided to postpone te schedule competition in 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In their official website, the Arafura Games organizers has decided to transfer the international sporting competition in 2023.
It can be recalled that in 2019, Davao City based swimmers Ray Martin Yarra, Lora Micah Amoguis, Ivo Nikolai Enot and Joshua del Rio along with jumper Mark Anthony Caseñas and thrower Bruce Pernia, who all brought home gold medals for Team Philippines in Arafura Games.
Over-all Philippines made up of 91 athletes captured 31 golds, 51 silvers, and 34 bronzes in the tournament.
The postponement of the games disappointed many athletes but they all understand the reason behind the postponement.
The athletes just pledge that they will do their best to capture medals in the Arafura Games 2023.
