Nesthy Petecio lauds PSC's Financial Literacy Webinar for national athletes

DAVAO CITY---Tuban, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur amateur lady boxer Nesthy Petecio lauded the Financial Literacy Webinar organized by the Philippine Sports Commission for the national athletes last October 28.

Petecio, the reigning women’s featherweight world champion is happy to be part of the seminar which seeks to educate athletes on how to use and save their money.

"Sobrang importante po itong Financial webinar para sa aming mga athleta para maturuan po kami kung paano gamitin ng wasto yung pera po namin lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya," Petecio said.

Earlier, Petecio thanked the PSC for its all-out support in her 2021 Tokyo Olympics bid.

Petecio, is currently training at a boxing gym in Digos City, Davao del Sur in preparation for the Olympic boxing qualifying tournament next year.

"Salamat PSC sa all-out support sa akong training," Petecio said in the PSC “People Sports Conversations” online show last October 28.

In the same online show, Davaoeno PSC Commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey assured Petecio that PSC will do its best to help her and the rest of the national athletes in their quest for national sports glory.

Maxey said the PSC is happy that Petecio is doing her best to train hard in her quest to get a slot in next year's Tokyo Olympics.

"We are happy that Petecio is doing her best to train hard in the gym," Maxey said.

The 28-year-old Davao del Sur boxing heroine decided to transfer her training in Digos City so that she can focus more away from her family and the nice cooking of her mother which badly affects her weight.

To stay in shape the Southeast Asian Games featherweight gold medalist is also doing the training twice a day, hitting the gym in the morning to follow the daily routine sent by coach Nolito Velasco through text messaging before going online in the afternoon for the national boxing team’s group training.
