ILOCOS NORTE — In a thrilling display of grit and skill, two young footballers from Cabantian, Davao City — Kian Niu and Joerby Anito — helped drive the National Capital Region (NCR) to a silver medal finish in the boys' secondary football tournament at the recently concluded 2025 Palarong Pambansa.

Representing Far Eastern University (FEU), both Niu and Anito played crucial roles in NCR’s strong campaign, ultimately landing as runners-up after a hard-fought battle against CALABARZON. Their performances stood out as among the most consistent and impactful on the pitch, drawing praise from coaches and fans alike.

No strangers to high-level competition, the Davao-born duo has been making waves long before this national spotlight. Earlier this year, they were instrumental in leading FEU to a silver medal finish in the UAAP secondary football tournament — a testament to their growing reputation as rising stars in Philippine football.

Beyond the medals and accolades, Niu and Anito’s journey from the grassroots fields of Cabantian to the national stage is an inspiring tale of perseverance and passion. Cabantian High School Stars Propel NCR to Victory in Palarong Pambansa

  

Talisay City, Cebu – In a thrilling showcase of talent and determination, two high school footballers from Cabantian, Davao City, played pivotal roles in the National Capital Region's (NCR) triumph in the boys' secondary football title at the recent Palarong Pambansa. Kian Niu and Joerby Anito, varsity players from Far Eastern University (FEU), were instrumental in NCR's stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Western Visayas in the finals.

Facing a daunting 0-2 deficit at halftime, the NCR team needed a spark to turn the game around. That spark came from Niu and Anito, who provided a significant boost in the second half. Niu, showcasing his exceptional skills, scored one of the critical goals that helped his team level the score and ultimately clinch the win.

The Davaoenos' performance was nothing short of inspiring as they rallied their teammates and executed a remarkable comeback to secure the championship. Their contributions did not go unnoticed, with both players receiving accolades for their efforts on the field.

Niu and Anito are no strangers to success. As members of the Rovers Football Club and varsity players for FEU, they have had an outstanding season. Earlier this year, they helped FEU secure the UAAP secondary football crown, adding another feather to their cap.

Cabantian teens solid in strong performance of NCR in PFF U-19 champiionship

DAVAO CITY—Two promising teen footballers from Barangay Cabantian here played a huge part in the strong performance of the National Capital Region in the ongoing Philippine Football Championship U-19 national championship in Bacolod, Negros Occidental.

Kian Terrence Niu and  Joerby Anito represent NCR as members of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws junior football team.

Niu and Anito, who are also members of Rovers Football Club are playing well and contributing goals for their team. 

Last February 29, the two helped the Tamaraws win the championship against the tough University of Santo Tomas Glowing Tigers 3-0 in the UAAP junior football championship at the UP Diliman Football Field in Quezon City.

Niu, scored the first of the three winning goals for the team in their championship win.

Lucha for his part played brilliantly in the entire tournament and was declared as the most valuable player.

Anito for his part also played tough for the team in their win.
