The Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Eagles has finished ninth among 17 competing regions in the just concluded 2018 Palarong Pambansa in Vigan, Ilocus Sur.
After the weeklong competition, Davraa was able to collect a total of 12 golds, 27 silvers and 28 bronzes.
The output is a smaller compared to our medal haul last year which is 22 golds, 25 silvers and 24 bronzes in Antique.
As expected the National Capital Region (NCR) defended its overall crown anew with 100 golds, 70 silvers and 50 bronzes followed by Calabarzon Region (55-50-73), Western Visayas (46-45-55), Central Visayas (26-25-36) and Cordillera Administrative Region (25-22-23).
Department of Education (DepEd)-Davao spokesperson Jenielito Atillo said they are still happy with the performance of the athletes and he vowed that Davraa will bounce back next year.
Davraa is the host of next year's Palaro.
Meanwhile, the Davraa boxing team ended this year's Palaro with one gold, three silvers and one bronze.
Christian Betonio provided the lone gold for Davraa after he ruled the school boys flyweight division
Betonio, 16, raised by his widow mother Ana Fe, defeated Johifer Gaki via unanimous decision in their school boys flyweight titular showdown.
