Three Region 11 Players Selected in 2024 PBA Draft

 




The 2024 PBA draft on July 14 saw three talented basketball players from Region 11 making their mark. Francis Escandor, Kurt Reyson, and Abdul Sawat were all selected by prominent PBA teams, showcasing the region's rich pool of basketball talent.


Francis Escandor, son of the owner of Royal Mandaya and a former student of Ateneo de Davao University, was picked in the second round by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. Escandor, a lefty shooter and a key player in De La Salle's recent UAAP championship team, also gained valuable experience playing for the Metro Manila squad in the MPBL.


Joining Escandor in the second round was Kurt Reyson, a native of Malita, Davao Occidental, who was selected by the Meralco Bolts. Reason, an athletic point guard, was a vital part of the Letran Knights' champion team in the NCAA college basketball wars. He also showcased his skills with the Pampanga Lanterns in the MPBL.

In the third round, Abdul Sawat from Davao de Oro was picked by San Miguel Beer. Sawat, who previously played for the University of the East in the UAAP, brings a strong presence to his new team.
