Team Jhun Duray had a busy day on the 1st day of the BSKE campaign in Barangay Catalunan Pequeno

The candidates under the banner of Jhun Duray, who is running for barangay captain in Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City, had a busy day on the first day of the campaign in the barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Election on October 30.

On October 19, Duray, an incumbent barangay councilor of Catalunan Pequeno, did not waste any precious moment and went to work in the campaign by conducting a motorcade and handshaking in various puroks in his barangay.

As he officially started his campaign for the top government position in Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, Duray called on the people to unite against whoever wins the barangay captain race.

Duray said if ever he won, he would offer his hand of friendship to the loser, and if he lost, he would also wholeheartedly support the candidate chosen by the people of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno.

He said what matters is that there is unity after the elections.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian Baste Duterte has endorsed the candidacy of Jhun Duray as barangay captain in the forthcoming Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan election on October 30.

Baste made the endorsement because he believes Barangay Catalunan Pequeno is in good hands if Duray wins as barangay's chairman.

Earlier,  Davao City's first district congressman, Pulong Duterte, the elder brother of Baste, also expressed support for the barangay captain bid of Duray.

Since being elected as barangay councilor in 2012, Duray has made it a point to help Barangay Catalunan Pequeno residents by himself if the need arises 24/7.

Unlike other officials, Duray is willing to do the dirty work or leg work despite his status as an elected official just to ensure the one who needs help will get the aid he or she needs.

Take the case of the recent participation of the Catalunan Pequeno National High School in the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan contest organized by the city government of Davao for the Kadayawan celebration last August.

Duray not only provided logistics and financial aid to the participants but also personally carried their props to the trucks they would use to transport their props and equipment for the street dancing contest.

The benevolent heart of Duray was rewarded as CPNH won second place in the contest.

With the valuable help Duray provided, the CPNH is very grateful for his benevolent heart.

Willingness to help 24/7 made Barangay Catalunan Pequeno residents love Jhun Duray more

While most elected barangay officials would shy away from offering direct help to those in need or letting someone do the work for them, that is not the case for Barangay Catalunan councilor Jhun Duray.

Since being elected as barangay councilor in 2012, Duray has made it a point to help Barangay Catalunan Pequeno residents by himself if the need arises 24/7.

"Jaguar is fully recognized by the NTC," Duray said.

What makes this group special is that they offer help to those in need that ordinary people might not act, such as one woman who lost her cellular phone to a manhole, the Jaguars, without any hesitation, went down the drain to get her phone successfully.

Duray is also grateful that Davao City's first district congressman, Pulong Duterte, has provided one ambulance to be used by the group.

He said Jaguar would continue to serve Davao City residents and nearby areas in many years to come since their group has a mission to help those in need in times of disaster and emergencies.

For providing selfless and immediate help to those who have been in need since 2019, both the Davao City Police Office and the city government of Davao gave a plaque of recognition to Jaguar Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno.

In 2020, DCPO gave the award to Jhun Duray, founder of Jaguar, for helping the local police force in its mission, which resulted in the best city police office award given by the PNP that same year.

In March of this year, the city recognized Jaguar for helping them with public safety and disaster efforts.

Duray, an incumbent barangay councilor of Catalunan Pequeno, is very happy and proud of the recognition given to Jaguar.

Jaguars Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno has been providing selfless service to Davaoenos since 2019

Four years after Jaguar Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno was founded by two-time Barangay Catalunan Pequeno councilor Jhun Duray in 2019, the search and rescue group has already helped several people not only in Catalunan Pequeno but also in other parts of Davao City and Mindanao as well.

Since Duray founded Jaguar, it has grown to other chapters outside Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, such as barangays Baliok, Catalunan Grande, and 76-A.

Congressman Pulong Duterte backs Jhun Duray as barangay captain of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno

If luck permits and Jhun Duray is elected as the next barangay captain of Catalunan Pequeno, it would be a huge blessing for the people of the said barangay.

This scenario developed since Duray has the full support of first district congressman Pulong Duterte in this year's Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections slated on October 30.

When Duray filed his certificate of candidacy as barangay captain of Catalunan Pequeno last September 1 at the Comelec office in Magsaysay Park, Davao City, some of the staff of Duterte were present to support him.

The son of Duterte, Omar, who is running as barangay captain of Buhangin, was also there to raise the hand of Duray.

Duray, a two-term Barangay councilor, had no intention of running as barangay captain since he still had one term left as a barangay legislator.

However, many people of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno personally urged him to and even told him that they would not support him if he just ran as a barangay councilor.

Aside from the strong clamor from the people, Duray also decided to run due to the "heavenly sign" he got from the late Barangay Catalunan Pequeno captain Albert Baguilod.

While at the grave of Baguilod, he asked for a sign from his idol if he would pursue his plan to run as barangay captain.

Baguilod answered his query by sending a mini tornado that destroyed a mini tent in the area.

The odds of running against an incumbent barangay captain might be challenging, but Duray is focussed on his aim to serve the people of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno in a higher capacity as barangay chairman.

Duray is confident the people and Baguilod from above will support him all the way in this year's Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

Jhun Duray plans to construct public hospital if elected as barangay captain of Catalunan Pequeno

If fate and the residents of Barangay Catalanun Pequeno elect him as their new barangay captain, two-time barangay councilor Jhun Duray hopes to construct a small governent hospital in his beloved barangay.

Duray said some people might laugh and not believe his plan, but he is confident he can do it if he gets elected as the new chairman of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno.

"Kung modaug ko isip kapitan ang pagtukod sa government hospital usa sa akong priority," Duray said.

The widely popular barangay councilor said to realize his plan, his good friend Raymond Taopa, who owns a private hospital in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, will help him build the first government hospital in Barangay Catalunan Pequeno.

He said Taopa, a former ranking official of Tagum Doctors Hospital, has the expertise and experience to help him build the small hospital.

Duray said he plans to use the ongoing construction of a second barangay hall as the building of the proposed hospital.

He said he would also seek funds from first district congressman Pulong Duterte to realize the hospital.

"Kining hospitala mohatag ug libreng medisina ug serbisyo sa mga residente sa Catalunan Pequeno ug ubang pang barangay," Duray added.

Aside from the strong clamor from the people for him to run as barangay captain instead of barangay councilor in the forthcoming Sanguniang Kabataan and Barangay Elections in October of this year, another reason Duray sees the top barangay position is his mentor and idol, former Catalunan Pequeno barangay chairman Albert Baguilod.

Duray said when the calls for him to run as barangay became louder, he decided to visit the grave of Baguilod to seek a sign if he would run for the position of barangay captain or not.

He said at the grave, he was surprised and happy when Baguilod answered his appeal by sending a mini tornado (buhawi) which destroyed a tent nearby.

Duray said the tornado he witnessed that day is a sign that Baguilod is supporting his candidacy this year.
