Jhun Duray is Baste's bet for brgy captain in Catalunan Pequeno

Davao City mayor Sebastian Baste Duterte has endorsed the candidacy of Catalunan Pequeno two-time barangay councilor Jhun Duray as barangay captain in the forthcoming Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan election on October 30.

Baste made the endorsement because he believes Barangay Catalunan Pequeno is in good hands if Duray wins as barangay chairman of the said barangay.

Earlier,  Davao City's first district congressman Pulong Duterte, the elder brother of Baste, also expressed support for the barangay captain bid of Duray.

Since he got elected as barangay councilor in 2012, Duray has made it a point to help Barangay Catalunan Pequeno residents by himself if the need arises 24/7.

Unlike other officials, Duray is willing to do the dirty work or leg work despite his status as an elected official just to make sure the one who needs help will get the aid he or she needs.

Take the case of the recent participation of the Catalunan Pequeno National High School in the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan contest organized by the city government of Davao for the Kadayawan celebration last August.

Duray not only provided logistics and financial aid to the participants but also personally carried their props to the trucks that they would use in transporting their props and equipment for the street dancing contest.

The benevolent heart of Duray was rewarded as CPNH won second place in the contest.

With the valuable help Duray provided, the CPNH is very grateful for his benevolent heart.

Jaguars Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno 2nd round of anniversary a huge success

The second batch celebration for the 4th-year anniversary of Jaguar Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno at the resthouse of Raymond Taopa in Datu Salumay, Marilog District, Davao City, last September 24 was a huge success.

The celebration was graced and organized by two-time Barangay Catalunan Pequeno councilor Jhun Duray.

Four years after Jaguar Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno was founded by Duray in 2019, the search and rescue group has already helped a number of people not only in Catalunan Pequeno but in other parts of Davao City and Mindanao as well.

Since Duray founded Jaguar, it has also grown to other chapters outside Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, such as barangays Baliok, Catalunan Grande, and 76-A.

Jaguar has also increased its membership and has 1,072 members serving Davaoenos in times of need.

Duray said Jaguar was founded; they already helped in various disaster emergencies, especially in Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, such as flooding.

He said their group also helps in vehicular accidents, such as emergency towing of damaged cars.

"Jaguar is fully recognized by the NTC," Duray said.

What makes this group special is the fact that they offer any kind of help to those in need that normal people might not act; such as one woman who lost her cellular phone to a manhole, the Jaguars, without any hesitation, went down the drain just to get her phone successfully.

Duray is also grateful that Davao City's first district congressman, Pulong Duterte, has provided one ambulance to be used by the group.

He said Jaguar would continue to serve Davao City residents and nearby areas in many years to come since their group has a mission to help those in need in times of disaster and emergencies.

Jhun Duray helped a wounded kid who was stoned by a playmate on a Sunday

While most elected officials would take a day off on a Sunday, that is not true for two-time Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City councilor Jhun Duray.

On August 27, Duray took time off from his busy schedule to help a wounded young boy after getting stoned by his teammate.

The boy's mother called Duray and asked for help for his son's wounds.

Without hesitation, Duray went to the boy's house and brought him to the hospital for the required medication for his wounds.

The boy's mother is pleased and thankful for the kind gesture of Duray, who exemplified the saying real public service is done 24/7.

Since he got elected as barangay councilor of Catalunan Pequeno in 2012, helping others at all times has always been the motto of Duray.

With his deep heart for those in need, his beloved constituents have learned to love him and urged him to run for a higher position this year.

If luck permits and he becomes the next barangay captain of Catalunan Pequeno, it would be a huge blessing for the residents since he is a certified public servant.

79 Catalunan Pequeno residents get free eye-glasses from councilors Braga and Jhun Duray

Last August 7, 79 lucky residents from Barangay Catalunan Pequeno were able to avail themselves of free eye check-ups and free eye-glasses from the office of first district councilor Pilar Braga and Catalunan Pequeno two-term barangay councilor Jhun Duray.

The eye-check and free giving of eye glasses were done at the house of Duray, who coordinated with the office of Braga.

Many residents availed the chance for the check-up and eye glasses since it is only sometimes that you can get your eyes checked and also get free eyeglasses simultaneously.

Duray decided to conduct the worthwhile activity since he wanted to unburden his constituents suffering from eye problems to spend their own money to treat their eyesight.

Since he was given the chance to serve Barangay Catalunan Pequeno residents some years back, Duray has made it a point to initiate projects to help those who put him into office.

Duray has gained the love and support of many Barangau Catalunan Pequeno residents because he is always willing to help them in any way he can.

While most public officials would rather stay in their offices and allow their personnel to do their projects, this is not the case for Duray; the softhearted official would personally do the service-oriented project because serving people at all times is part of his DNA.

With his kind heart, especially to those in need, Duray's future as a public servant is bright, especially in the forthcoming Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay elections in October.

Duray said clean and green is one of the top agendas of his administration if he gets elected as barangay captain since he believes protecting the environment is an important part of a community.

"There are still a lot of areas in Catalunan Pequeno where we can plant more trees for fresh air," Duray said.

He said since he became a barangay councilor it had been his advocacy alongside the Jaguars of Catalunan Pequeno to plant trees.

Kind-hearted scrap metal trader ended up serving Catalunan Pequeno for the past 11 years

Duray just wanted to do business and, at the same time, help those people in his barangay that needed help.

Seeing his genuine heart to serve those in need, Catalunan Pequeno barangay captain Albert Baguilod invited him to be part of his barangay council slate in the election.

Duray accepted the offer, and with the help of Baguilod and the rest of the residents of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, he won his first term as a barangay councilor.

Since he entered politics in 2012, Duray has won his second term as a barangay councilor and continues to serve his beloved constituents today.

Hard work and luck made Jhun Duray a successful scrap metal trader

In life, to gain success, you need to work hard to achieve your dreams.

But for Catalunan Pequeno barangay councilor Jhun Duray, hard work is not enough to be successful in life; you need to be lucky as well.

Duray, who is now a successful scrap metal seller in Davao City, recalled that through hard work and a bit of luck, he was able to gain success in life.

The service-oriented councilor recalled that hard work had become part of his life even when he was young.

He said, like most people, he started small as a street scrap metal seller while working as a security guard at the same time in Royal Valley, Bangkal, when he was still single and in college.

Being an ordinary street metal scrap seller is hard, but he endures it because he wants to succeed.

In one particular Christmas season, he attended a Christmas gift-giving activity hosted by his neighbor, then Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte in Taal Street.

Duray said he was very lucky since he won P2,000 in a raffle activity and got several envelopes he used to buy lechon manok.

Duray added that he invested the P2,000 money he won in his scrap metal business, and that investment grew big in the succeeding years to come.

"Kung dili atong P2,000 nga nadaugan nako dili unta ko maging successful nga scrap metal seller," Duray said.

The widely popular barangay councilor said he was very grateful for the former president since, without his Christmas gift-giving activity, he could not have won the P2,000, which totally changed his life.

"Maski sauna paman Duterte supporter na dyud ko," Duray added.
