Catalunan Pequeno residents flock to Jhun Duray's house to celebrate brgy fiesta

Many residents of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno went to the house of two-time barangay councilor Jhun Duray for free meals during the recent fiesta celebration of the barangay.

The residents went to the house of Duray from morning until evening to avail themselves of free food offered by the kind-hearted barangay official.

Duray told Latest Davao News that it had become his tradition to offer free meals to his beloved constituents in every fiesta celebration.

He said giving free meals is his way of saying thank you to God for the blessing he received for the year.

Duray added that he also did it to thank his constituents for the support they had given him as a barangay official of the barangay for the past few years.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian Baste Duterte has endorsed the candidacy of Jhun Duray as barangay captain in the forthcoming Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan election on October 30.

Baste made the endorsement because he believes Barangay Catalunan Pequeno is in good hands if Duray wins as barangay chairman of the said barangay.

Earlier,  Davao City's first district congressman, Pulong Duterte, the elder brother of Baste, also expressed support for the barangay captain bid of Duray.

Since being elected as barangay councilor in 2012, Duray has made it a point to help Barangay Catalunan Pequeno residents by himself if the need arises 24/7.

Unlike other officials, Duray is willing to do the dirty work or leg work despite his status as an elected official just to ensure the one who needs help will get the aid he or she needs.

Take the case of the recent participation of the Catalunan Pequeno National High School in the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan contest organized by the city government of Davao for the Kadayawan celebration last August.

Duray not only provided logistics and financial aid to the participants but also personally carried their props to the trucks they would use to transport their props and equipment for the street dancing contest.

The benevolent heart of Duray was rewarded as CPNH won second place in the contest.

With the valuable help Duray provided, the CPNH is very grateful for his benevolent heart.
