Barangay Dumoy's own fogging machine keeps dengue at bay and residents safe

 

The decision of Barangay Dumoy, Davao City chairman Jessie Mar Culaste, to buy a fogging machine for the barangay has a huge benefit for the residents, especially against the deadly dengue disease.

Culaste said in his first term as barangay captain in 2002, he had already purhased two fogging machines for the barangay, but as years went by, some of them got broken, and he decided to replace them with a new one.

The long-time barangay captain of Dumoy said he prioritized buying a fogging machine for the barangay to mitigate and stop dengue from spreading in his beloved barangay.

"Kung naa sarili fogging machine ang barangay dili na kaayo kita mag depende sa City Health Office ug ma avoid nato ang outbreak sa dengue," Culaste told Latest Davao News.

He said buying a fogging machine is not easy since it usually costs P150,000 for each device.

Culaste revealed using a fogging machine is not done regularly since it can only be used if a barangay has a dengue case.

Culaste added before the barangay conducts a fogging activity, it needs to orient the purok first and conduct a massive community clean-up to ensure baby mosquitos hiding in containers will be destroyed.

He said with their fogging machine, dengue cannot spread quickly in his barangay and keep the residents safe from harm.

Barangay Maa is the over-all champion in Davao City First Responder Skills & Obstacle Course Competition 2023

The bragging rights for the best rescue and responder in Davao City belong to Barangay Maa.

This developed after the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee (BDRRMC) of Barangay Maa was declared as the over-all champion in the Davao City First Responder Skills & Obstacle Course Competition 2023 last July 18-21 at the Crocodile Park Grounds.

The BDRRMC Maa got the over-all championship after winning most of the challenges in the competition by the 182 barangays in Davao City.

Barangay Maa chairman Pacito Canete, who witnessed his team's winning moment, is pleased and proud of their victories in the said competition.

Under the leadership of Canete, he made it a priority to provide all the assistance needed by the BDRRMC Maa.

Canete told Latest Davao News that he allocated sacks of rice for the responders to cook at their office inside the Maa Barangay Hall.

"Over-all champion ang Barangay Maa sa Davao City," Canete said.

Being a former policeman, Canete is providing all-out support to BDRRMC Maa since he knows their massive importance in times of disaster and emergencies.

The caravan of services continues as 74 more residents get free dental care, medicines, and school supplies in Barangay Dumoy

 

The caravan of services continues for Barangay Dumoy, Davao City residents.

On September 17, 74 residents of Purok Leonor received free dental services, school supplies, medicines, and ice cream from their barangay leaders.

The activity, a year-round program of Barangay Dumoy, was spearheaded by barangay captain Jessie Mar Culaste, who conducted the dental extraction since he is a long-time professional dentist.

The incumbent barangay councilors of Dumoy also assisted Culaste in the worthwhile activity led by Nanette Culaste Badad.

The people of Purok Leonor are very grateful and happy with the health and wellness program of Barangay Dumoy.

Last September 10, many residents of Purok Purok Pag-Ibig in Barangay Dumoy also received free dental service, school supplies, medicines, and ice cream from their barangay.

As a professional dentist, Culaste prioritized health and social services in his beloved barangay.

All year round, Culaste and the other elected officials of Barangay Dumoy go around the various puroks in their barangay to offer free medical and social services.

For selfless service for Davaoenos Jaguar Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno gets award from cops and city

For providing selfless and immediate help to those who have been in need since 2019, both the Davao City Police Office and the city government of Davao gave a plaque of recognition to Jaguar Force Multiplier Catalunan Pequeno.

In 2020, DCPO gave the award to Jhun Duray, founder of Jaguar, for helping the local police force in its mission, which resulted in the best city police office award given by the PNP that same year.

In March of this year, the city recognized Jaguar for helping them with public safety and disaster efforts.

Duray, an incumbent barangay councilor of Catalunan Pequeno, is very happy and proud of the recognition given to Jaguar.

Recently, the office of Davao City first district congressman gave them 300 food packs during their recent fourth-anniversary celebration at the resthouse of philanthropist Raymond Taopa in Barangay Baganihan, Datu Salumay, Marilog District, Davao City.

Duray is very happy and grateful for the donation of Duterte, an ardent supporter of the search and rescue group.

Duray, a two-time Barangay Catualunan Pequeno councilor, said the 300 food packs are just the initial assistance from Duterte, and more food packs are coming for the group.

Since Duray founded Jaguar in 2019, the group has already helped several people in Catalunan Pequeno and other parts of Davao City and Mindanao.

The group has also grown to other chapters outside Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, such as barangays Baliok, Catalunan Grande, and 76-A.

Jaguar has also increased its membership and has 1,072 members serving Davaoenos in times of need.

Duray said Jaguar was founded; they already helped in various disaster emergencies, especially in Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, such as flooding.

He said their group also helps in vehicular accidents, such as emergency towing of damaged cars.

"Jaguar is fully recognized by the NTC," Duray said.

What makes this group special is that they offer help to those in need that ordinary people might not act, such as one woman who lost her cellular phone to a manhole, the Jaguars, without any hesitation, went down the drain to get her phone successfully.

Duray is also grateful that Davao City's first district congressman, Pulong Duterte, has provided one ambulance to be used by the group.

He said Jaguar would continue to serve Davao City residents and nearby areas in many years to come since their group has a mission to help those in need in times of disaster and emergencies.

Barangay Dumoy officials conduct coastal clean-up to protect further the seas and environment

 

To ensure all the coastlines in Barangay Dumoy, Davao City, are clean and safe to swim, the local officials led by barangay captain Jessie Mar Culaste conducted a coastal clean-up on September 16.

Tagging along the barangay councilors and functionaries, Culaste and his team spearheaded the coastal clean-up with residents.

With their strong will for cleanliness and environmental protection, the activity was a massive success as they collected sacks of garbage in the area.

Cleanliness and environmental protection are among the top programs under the administration of Culaste since he wants his constituents to be healthy and happy at the same time.

Culaste, a long-time Barangay Dumoy barangay captain, also wants to ensure the environment is always protected, especially the seas so he regularly conducts coastal clean-ups under his administration.
