HCCC Batch 95 Halloween Costume Winner Gets P5,000

The top-prize winner.

To most people, October 30, 2021, is just an ordinary Saturday except maybe for some who have a special celebration on this particular day.

But for the members of the Holy Cross College of Calinan high school batch 1995, this day was extra-special since the group is holding its first-ever Halloween Costume Contest wherein the winner will get whopping P5,000 cash as a prize.

The Boogeyman.

At first most of the members of the batch thought this event will just be an ordinary contest wherein the contestants will just showcase a decent costume especially that the announcement was just made for barely a week.

Ghost rider.

But to the surprise of everybody, the contestants came in with their guns blazing or as one of the prize sponsors Lester Genosas would say came up with their A-game.

The White Lady.

Contrary to what most of the batch thought, the contestants came up with very creative and scary costumes worthy to be included as props to a B-class honor film, lol.

3rd place winner, The Nun.

Right off the bat, a few minutes before the contest proper at around 8 p.m., Ludimay Nacorda posted a photo of her costume of a massacre victim with one of her eyes dangling from her face.

With a very scary photo, many of the batch at this point are thrilled and excited to see her actual costume on zoom live and other participants as well.

To ensure that the group can pick the rightful winner of the contest, they decided to enlist the services of two of their former teachers Maams Nancy Balonquit and Marilyn Braganza two of the well-loved mentors of the group during their high school years when the Chicago Bulls is still the dominant team in the NBA under the era of Michael Jordan lol.

Aside from the usual costume contest via zoom the occasion was very eventful and memorable as members of the group were able to reminisce their high school years and chit chat on their current status in life.

2nd place winner. Lady Zombie.

Boogie Gomez, the class clown and licensed joker of the group was in his usual element in making the batch laugh and smile in the duration of the contest with his usual antics, jokes, and funny one-liners.

The Joker.

The group was at its feet laughing intensely when Gomez joked about the late senator Joker Arroyo in reference to the Joker costume of Charmaine Lada-Ang.

Boogie's classmate since kinder Jeff Neil Tocmo lol.

He also made the group giggle when he appealed to one of the prizes sponsors Jeff Neil Tocmo to hand him the win since they have been classmates since kinder lol.

After the participants presented their costumes and explained how they did it, the two judges who still looked very young despite their age started tabulating the score with the aid of the very reliable scientific calculator, lol.

A few minutes after tabulating the scores the judges finally came up with the winners.

Braganza, the English teacher of the group explained that the contest was very tight and that the only way they break the tie is to choose the most punctual or early bird contestant.

After a thorough deliberation from the two esteemed judges, Nacorda emerged as the top prize winner.

Nacorda is very happy with her win and shared that she will share a portion of her winnings with the make-up artist who did her costume.

The second place went to Edmie Capistrano, a DEPED teacher from the Baguio district who presented a lady zombie costume with a zipped mouth.

Capistrano won P2,500.

The third place went Richel Mediano-Saligumba, DEPED teacher from Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur who looked very scary with her possessed nun costume.

Saligumba won P1,500.

While the contest originally set the prizes to the top three winners, the prize sponsors Genosas, Tocmo and Margarita Prajapati were kind enough to give prizes to the fourth and fifth placers as well and P500 to the non-winners.

Overall the event was a huge success as the contestants and the other members of the batch were very happy with not only seeing world-class Halloween costumes but also the chance to catch up with each other.

Before calling it a night both Braganza and Balonquit thanked the batch for the invite to judge the contest and praised them for being talented and successful in life.

With the success of the contest, the batch is now looking forward to their next big activities the homecoming in December if it happens, and the Christmas Bingo which offers another whopping prize to the winners.

Indeed 25 years have passed since they ended their ended stint in HCCC, the HCCC high school batch 1995 continues to make an impact in the era of the NEW NORMAL.
