DAVAO CITY – Filipino American NBA star Jordan Clarkson achieved another milestone as a member of the Utah Jazz in the NBA.
Last October 30, put his name to Jazz history books after making at least one three-pointer in 99 consecutive regular-season games that he played since being traded to the Jazz in 2019.
Clarkson is very happy with his latest achievement in the NBA.
This year, Clarkson made history by winning the NBA 6th man of the year award.
The NBA 6th man award is usually given to the top bench scorer of an ongoing NBA season. In a Facebook post, Clarkson had great joy over the latest accolade to his blossoming NBA career.
“Blessed”, Clarkson said.
The award is extra sweet for the Filipino American since he was able to beat fellow 6th man of the year candidate former NBA most valuable player and current New York Knicks veteran point guard Derrick Rose.
Clarkson earlier said more than the money, he decided to accept the $54 million offer of the Jazz because he values the youthful roster and family atmosphere of the NBA Western Conference team.
Clarkson admitted he could earn more money from other NBA offers but he loved the way the Jazz team aggressively pursued him when his NBA contract expired.
The 28-year-old NBA star said the young crew of the Jazz made up of star point guard Donovan Mitchell and star center Rudy Gobert also made him decide to stay with the team.
The 46th overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft said he wants to accomplish great things with the young stars of the Jazz in the next few years.
With Clarkson on the line-up in the next four years, the Jazz is expected to reach the NBA playoffs.
Before his decision to re-sign with the Jazz, Clarkson has been pursued by many NBA teams due to his scoring and versatility. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
