P150,000 At Stake In Panabo Tennis Tourney


The city of Panabo in Davao del Norte has gone all out as they host a big national tennis tournament from October 19-22.
The organizers of the   Mayor James Gamao National Invitational Tennis Championship 2017 has set aside P150,000 cash prizes to the winners of the tennis tournament featuring some of the top tennis players in the Philippines.
Guesting before the weekly  Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at NCCC Mall Davao Food Cove Thursday, tournament director Boy Diong said the tennis courts that will be used in the competition is the same like the ones used in Metro Manila.
Among the big-named tennis players who will join the tournament are  Patrick John Tierro and tournament defending champion Butuan City native Johnny
Arcilla along with Leander Lazaro, Mark Anthony Alcoseba of Davao City, John Mari Altiche, Noel Mariano Damian, Jr.,
Elbert Vicente Anasta and Fritz Chris Verdad.
Diong said the particants will be grouped into two brackers and will play a round robin format.
The top two players in each bracker will play in the semifinals and the winners will dispute the championship trophy and cash.
He said those who will join the tournament will not go empty handed win or lose.
