Some of the top young chessers all over Philippines joined the tournament to celebrate the natal day of Wilfred Gabriel Neri.
Many online chess tournaments are done to celebrate the birthday and death anniversary of someone.
Before COVID-19, birthday and death anniversary tournaments were not as plenty and frequent unlike today.
While the birthday and death anniversary tournaments offers less prizes than offline tournaments it is more meaningful and intimate for the participating chessers.
Many chessers who joined these tournaments are not really after the prizes but the chance to honor the natal day of death of someone.
It is safe to say that among the sports around the world, chess is the more active in this time of COVID-19.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
