Watch out UAAP, lefty Davaoeno Gilas prospect can also dunk!

DAVAO CITY---Lefty Davaoeno high school basketball star Askiah Echavia is set to showcase his shooting and dunking prowess in the next University Athletic Association of the Philippine (UAAP) high school basketball wars as a member of the University of East Junior Red Warriors.
Last June, Echavia posted a video on his Facebook page showing his insane hops and dunking skills.
Echavia who has accepted the offer to play for the Red Warriors in the UAAP is currently doing some light workout and basketball
training at his residence in Toril.
Eschavia accepted the UE offer earlier since  it had long his dream to play in the biggest collegiate
sports league in the Philippines.
He revealed  if his UAAP high school basketball career will be successful he would also play for the Red Warriors in college.
"After sa pandemic moadto nako sa Manila para moduwa sa UE"," he said.
The 18-year-old former high school star of Davao Jones Academy said his looming Manila journey is his second and probably his last shot at playing basketball in the country's capital.
Echavia said he already played for eight games for Mapua Red Robins in the National Athletic Association of the Philippines (NCAA) in 2019 but he decided to return home to Davao and play again for
DJA Spunky since he believe he is not yet ready for the big stage.
However, while playing for the Spunky in some local leagues here he realized that it is now the right time to try his
luck in Manil and he is confident he is ready this time around especially that one of his coaches is his own kin former PBA player John Ferriols who is also a lefty.
In 2015, Echavia carry Davao City to the elementary basketball gold in the Palarong Pambansa that year.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
