Nona Morales, won the championship in the chess tournament participated in by some of the top young chessers in the Philippines after scoring 7.5 points.
The second place in the tournament went to Jerome Pullos another Panaboan who scored seven points.
Aside from the regular winners some special prizes were also given to some promising chessers.
Buhangin, Davao City native James Catayas won the under 12 category.
Cash prizes were given to the winners of the tournament organized by veteran chess arbiters Ely Acas, NA Palero and Alfred Moulic.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
