Guv Praises Talaingod's Tough Stance Vs. CDO In Women's Volleyball

The tough stance of the little known Talaingod women's volleyball team against the volleybelles from Cagayan de Oro City in recently concluded  Batang Pinoy 2016 National Championship has earned praise from Davao del Norte governor Anthony del Rosario.

Del Rosario said the 17 and under volleybelles from Talaingod gave the taller and more experienced players from Cagayan de Oro City a run for their money before losing 25-23, 25-23. He said Talaingod, a far-flung town of Davao del Norte surprised the city based team from the Misamis Oriental with their volleyball skills which is an inspiration to other athletes.

The governor said Talaingod might have suffered defeat from Cagayan de Oro city but they have inspired a lot of athletes especially from lesser known municipalities that anybody can compete in the national scale with training and talent. He said he love the way Talaingod compete since they did not just roll over against Cagayan but fight toe to toe with their more popular opponents.

Del Norte hoped he can see more lesser known town present a strong showing against established sports team in the future.
