Padada Native Scottie Thompson Is 4th In PBA Rebounding Leaders

Mindanaoan and fast rising Philippine Basketball Association sophomore guard Scottie Thompson is currently in the fourth place in ongoing PBA Philippine Cup.

Thompson, a native of Padada, Davao del Sur is averaging 10 rebounds per game for the Barangay Ginebra Kings just below behemoths June Mar Fajardo, Raymund Almazan, and Sean Anthony. In the Kings victory over the Star Hotshots on Christmas day 86-79, Thompson came through with a career-high in rebounds.

The 6-foot-1, Thompson snared a career-high 17 rebounds to beat out certified board crashers Marc Pingris (16) and even 6-foot-9 teammate Japeth Aguilar (10). His effort also helped the Kings beat the Hotshots off the glass, 54-47.

Thompson, as usual, played down the feat, saying he merely focused on other aspects of the game since he didn’t really have a great offensive night for the Kings. The sophomore guard was 0 for 5 from the field, but finished with five points by shooting 5 of 8 from the foul line. “Dinadaan ko lang sa sipag,” said the 23-year-old cager.
