DepEd 11 regional director lawyer Alberto Escobarte told reporters that he agreed to the appeal of Davao City mayor Sarah Duterte that Davao City will be given the chance to host Davraa again next year.
Escobarte said next year's host COmpostela Valley province has begged off from hosting Davraa so it would just be right that next year's hosting will be given to Davao City again.
He said Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy told him if it will be the turn of his province to host, he
would turn it over to Davao del Norte Governor Anthony del Rosario becuase he really needs two years preparation to host
the event.
Escobarte said the successive hostings of a certain local government is not new to this since the Davao Del Norte hosted DAVRAA in
2013 and 2014 before their hosting of Palarong Pambansa in 2015.
Escobarte would also suggest to the city government to conduct the regional meet as early as January so that working
committee will have enough time to prepare for the Palarong Pambansa since this needs to be held earlier because of the
mid-term election.
To formalize the hosting of Davao City for Davraa 2019, Escobarte said he will soon issue a memorandum on the matter.
Duterte earlier asked DepEd 11 to handle the regional meet once again because she wants more practice to prepare for the possible hosting of Palarong Pambansa 2019.
