A 17-year-old runner from Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte was the big winner in the just concluded Davraa Meet athletics competition on Thursday at the
University of Mindanao (UM) diamond in Matina, Davao City.
Davao del Norte Pioneers' Jummel Gonzales won four golds in the contest and declared as the most bemedalled athlete in the athletics contest.
Gonzales, 17, anchored his team to a golden finish
in secondary boys 4X400m relay team event after topping the secondary boys 3,000m steeplechase,
secondary boys 1,500m run and secondary boys 5,000m run.
With his multiple gold medals, Gonzales is looking forward to a better finish in this year's Palarong Pambansa in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
In last year's Palaro, Gonzales only finished fourth in Antique.
Meanwhile, Digos City's Raffy Corpin Pino won the gold in the secondary boys high jump finals at the UM oval late
Wednesday afternoon.
Pino, a 15-year-old Kapatagan National High School student beat avao City's Mark Anthony CaseƱas in the finals to win the gold.
A first timer in Davraa, Pino is very excited to compete in the Palarong Pambansa this year.
