2 Dabawenyas score 30 points to help the PH team beat England in a friendly online chess match

 


DAVAO CITY---The inclusion of two seasoned players lady chess players from Davao City in the 12-member Philippine Women's chess team that competed against England in a friendly chess match last October 10 at 9 p.m. has yielded positive results.

Former UAAP chess varsity players Arena Grand Master (AGM) Rowelyn Joy Acedo and Women Fide-Master Ella Grace Moulic scored a total of 30 points in the Philippines 195 total scores in their win against England Women's chess team who only managed to score 113 points.

Acedo scored 17 points and Moulic 13 in the morale-boosting victory for the Philippines.

The 12-man Women's chess team are all masters and is considered as the top women chess players in the Philippines.

Both Acedo and Moulic played for the De La Salle University Women's chess team.

Joining the two Dabawenyas in the Philippine chess team are WIM Catherine Secopio, WIM Jan Jodilyn Fronda, WIM, Marie Antoinette San Diego, WIM Kylen Joy Mordido, WFM Allany Jia Doroy, WFM Cherry Ann Mejia, WFM Samantha Glo Revita, WNM Francois Marie Magpily WNM Vic Glysen Derotas, WCM Mira Mirano.

Before playing in the UAAP, both Acedo and Moulic won many chess medals for Davao City. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
