Panaboan rules 11th AFPI Chess Arena Blitz Competition 2020

 

Youngest AGM in the Philippines Christian Gian Karlo Arca.

DAVAO CITY---A promising male chess player from Panabo City, Davao del Norte continues to make waves in online chess during this pandemic crisis.

Arena Grandmaster Christian Gian Karlo Arca ruled the 11th AFPI Chess Arena Blitz Competition 2020 last October 18.

Arca scored 51 points after 20 games to win the competition participated in by some of the top young chessers in the Philippines.

Last October 10-11, Arca finished fourth in the tough  National Youth Online Chess Championship boys 11 and under Grand Finals 2020.

Arca scored eight points in the chessfest participated in by some of the top young chessers in the Philippines.

The young Panaboan made Mindanao proud earlier after he was declared as the youngest AGM in the Philippines.

Arena Grandmaster (AGM) is the highest online title. It is achieved by a series of 150 bullet games, 100 blitz games, or 50 rapid games with a performance rating of over 2000.

Arca got the AGM title after his successful wins online.

Arca is among the select few 20 and under players in the Philippines who got an AGM title.

He is also the second chess player from Panabo City who got the AGM title after his mentor Henry Lopez.

Arca a student of Panabo Central Elementary School is on a roll these days as far as online chess wins are concerned.

Arca is very pleased with his latest achievement and thanked all those persons behind his success in chess.

Last October 6, he ruled the prestigious under 11 National Youth Chess Tournament.

Arca scored 6.5 points to win the national online chess tournament participated in by some of the top 11 and under chessers in the Philippines.

Arca won a certificate as a prize for his victory.

Last August 7, Arca won third place in the Davao del Norte Online Chess Tournament.

Arca won P50 as a prize.

The weekly chess tournament was organized by the sports division of the province of Davao del Norte and features some of the top young chessers of the said province.

The winners in the weekly tournaments are set to meet in the grand finals where the prizes are bigger.

The Davao del Norte provincial sports office organized the tournament earlier to provide young chessers in the province the chance to hone their talents by facing other chessers in Davao del Norte. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
