DAVAO CITY---A promising male chess player from Panabo City, Davao del Norte ruled the prestigious under 11 National Youth Chess Tournament last October 6.
Christian Gian Karlo Arca scored 6.5 points to win the national online chess tournament participated in by some of the top 11 and under chessers in the Philippines.
Arca won a certificate as a prize for his victory.
Last August 7, Arca won third place in the Davao del Norte Online Chess Tournament.
Arca won P50 as a prize.
The weekly chess tournament was organized by the sports division of the province of Davao del Norte and features some of the top young chessers of the said province.
The winners in the weekly tournaments are set to meet in the grand finals were the prizes are bigger.
The Davao del Norte provincial sports office organized the tournament earlier to provide young chessers in the province the chance to hone their talents by facing other chessers in Davao del Norte.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
