Former Barangay 25-C, Davao City barangay captain Charito Escasinas has officially joined the race as chairman in her barangay in the October 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Accompanied by her lone candidate for barangay councilor of Barangay 25-C and some supporters, Escasinas officially filed her certificate of candidacy as barangay captain on the last day of BSKE COC filing at the Comelec office in Magsaysay Park last September 2.
Escasinas said she decided to join the race for barangay captain in one of the smallest barangays in the first district of Davao City, which has an estimated registered voters of 1,008, to bring back peace and order.
Escasinas, who is known for her tough stance against criminals during her years as barangay captain, told the Latest Davao News she decided to run again this year after reports that drugs and robberies are back, especially since former president and Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte is no longer in office.
"Peace and order dyud ang isa sa akong tutukan kung makabalik ko as barangay captain," Escasinas said.
Aside from peace and order, Escasinas said she would also bring back social services to her barangay and give them to the residents, not non-residents or just a select few.
The tough-talking former barangay captain said it saddens her to hear reports that the aid supposedly intended for the residents of Barangay 25-C was not reportedly given to them, especially during the time of COVID.
"Ang mga tabang gikan gobyerno dapat mahatag dyud sa mga residente," Escasinas added.
Escasinas said while she was away from politics, many local residents of Barangay 25-C still regularly visited her house to seek help.
