21 women's groups received livelihood assistance in Barangay Dumoy

The women's group is a vital part of the administration of Barangay Dumoy Captain Jessie Mar Culaste.

Culaste said since he assumed office as the barangay head of Dumoy some 21 years ago, he made it a point to organize the women's group in his barangay.

Today, Culaste said there are already 21 women's groups in his barangay and one of the things he did to help them is to provide them with livelihood assistance.

Culaste, a professional dentist, said he provides these groups with financial help sourced from barangay funds and other donors.

He said the average money he gave per group was P30,000.

Based on his monitoring, Culaste said one of the groups uses the money to buy sacks of rice and sell them to their own members, and the group shares the profit they have among themselves.

Culaste said another group would sell frozen goods and divide the profits among themselves.

He said livelihood assistance is part of his programs since he believes it is part of his duty as barangay chairman to provide business opportunities to his beloved constituents.
