BPAT program keeps Barangay Sasa residents safer from harm and crimes

Barangay Sasa captain Jerry Licarte offers some words of inspiration to the BPAT volunteer in his beloved barangay.

One of the top responsibilities of barangay captains is to ensure steady peace and order situations in their areas.

In Barangay Sasa, to better protect his beloved constituents, Barangay Captain Jerry Licarte has activated the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team Volunteers (BPAT) in coordination with the Davao City Police Office.

Licarte said BPAT are volunteer peace keepers who will help in keeping the peace and order in their respective puroks.

"Mao sila ang magbantay sa ilang mga purok wala ne silay sweldo o honorarium purely volunteer

lang gyod," Licarte said.

He said the BPATs will augment the barangay policemen or tanods in Barangay Sasa to keep his beloved constituents safe from harm and crimes.

Licarte is very happy and grateful to the BPATS since they work even without getting paid, as they do their job purely in the service of the community.

The BPAT program of Barangay Sasa was started in 2019, and they offered great help during the pandemic since they were the ones who managed the checkpoints in their puroks.

Since the BPAT program started, it has already grown and has 1,200 volunteers in the various puroks in Barangay Sasa.

To offer support and inspiration, Licarte has made it to a point to attend the orientation and oathtaking activity of the group.

With the BPAT, barangay tanod, local police, and strong leadership of  Licarte, the residents of Barangay Sasa can sleep soundly in their homes since these people protect them 24/7.
