For the sake of their beloved constituents in the biggest barangay in Davao City, three fierce political rivals in Barangay 76-A have decided to unite together to bring development and good fortune to the first district barangay in Davao City.
Former Barangay 76-A barangay captains Robert Olanolan, Celzo Tizon, and Reynaldo Molde decided to unite and run under one flag in October's forthcoming Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay Elections.
Olanolan said at first, he never imagined he would unite and join forces with Tizon and Molde since, during the time they were serving Barangay 76-A, the three of them were fierce rivals who would never talk to each other, especially during an election.
"Kada eleksiyon halos naga riot ang mga supporters namo ni Tizon," Olanolan said in one his pulong-pulongs in the barangay.
He said someone from above is instrumental in why the three came together and ran as one, dubbed 1 Barangay Unity team.
Olanolan recalled their unity started when Molde got his cellular number out of the blue and called him at home.
The former barangay captain said Molde identified himself. Personally, he was surprised on the call since he used to fight Molde during his term as barangay captain while he was the number one councilor in their barangay.
In the call, Olanolan said Molde told him that Tizon wanted to talk to them at the latter's residence.
"Katong nisulti siya nga gusto ni Tizon ma intorya nako sa iyahang mismong balay nasurpresa ko ug nikatawa kay halos magpatay ang mga tagasuporta namo kada eleksiyon nga magkalaban mi," Olanolan added.
On the supposed day of their meeting, Olanolan was just cruising his car in the downtown area and somewhat decided to go home to Barangay 76-A.
Olanolan said while he had no intention of attending the meeting at the house of his political rival, he was surprised when his legs brought him to Tizon's house.
When he entered the house of Tizon, both his rivals who were present that day approached him and told him straight that they both decided to lower their pride and allow him to run as barangay captain in the forthcoming election.
"Si Tizon ug Molde niingon nako nga ako ilang padaganon isip kapitan ug silang duha modagan na lamang isip mga kagawad," Olanolan said.
Olanolan said he was humbled by the gesture of his two fierce political rivals and decided to accept their offer, and the three eventually agreed to form their unity team.
He said their decision to run and unite is all intended for the sake of their barangay.
"Retire naman unta ming tulo pero gusto lang dyud namo nga motabang ug moserbisyo sa taga Barangay 76-A," he said.
