A heavenly signal from late Barangay Pequeno captain Albert Baguilod drove Jhun Duray to seek a higher post in 2023

Aside from the strong clamor from the people for him to run as barangay captain instead of barangay councilor in the forthcoming Sanguniang Kabataan and Barangay Elections in October of this year, another reason Jhun Duray sees the top barangay position is his mentor and idol former Catalunan Pequeno barangay chairman Albert Baguilod.

Duray said when the calls for him to run as the barangay became louder, he decided to visit the grave of Baguilod to seek a sign if he would run for the position of barangay captain or not.

He said at the grave, he was surprised and happy when Baguilod answered his appeal by sending a mini tornado (buhawi) which destroyed a tent nearby.

Duray said the tornado he witnessed that day is a sign that Baguilod is supporting his candidacy this year.

It can be recalled that Duray had no intention to enter politics but just wanted to do business and, at the same time, help those in his barangay who needed help.

However, Baguilod invited him to be part of his barangay council slate in the election in 2012.

Duray accepted the offer, and with the help of Baguilod and the rest of the residents of Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, he won his first term as a barangay councilor.

Since he entered politics in 2012, Duray has won his second term as a barangay councilor and continues to serve his beloved constituents.

Since the public elected him as a barangay councilor in 2012 until today, Duray has done many great things in his barangay as chairman of the peace and order and transportation committees.

As a peace and order chairman, Duray has made a point to visit all the puroks in his barangay to ensure the residents are safe.

Aside from keeping the peace in their barangay, he also made it a point to know the situation of the residents and offer them help if they need it.

Since he became a barangay councilor, Duray also made it a point to give a sack of rice bouquet of flowers to any of the family in his barangay who had a member who died.

Duray would also help the deceased person's family get burial financial assistance worth P20,000 from the office of first district congressman Pulong Duterte.

He also facilitated the handing out of medical assistance to those Catalunan Pequeno residents who need it, courtesy of Congressman Duterte.

"Dako nang medical asisstance 70 to 80 thousand hangtud ma zero balance ang bayrunon sa pasyente," Duray said.

As the founder of the search and rescue group Jaguar, Duray has also helped in the various rescue operations in his barangay, especially during disasters such as flooding.

He said as transportation committee chairman, Duray also helps keep students safe when crossing the street in his barangay.

With the great things he did for Catalunan Pequeno for many years, the residents have learned to love and respect him and are hopeful he can continue serving them for more years.
