Jerry Licarte wants to make Barangay Sasa drug-free if he gets reelected as barangay captain

 



Service-oriented first-term barangay captain Jerry Licarte wants to make Barangay Sasa drug-free if his beloved constituents reelect him for the second time in the forthcoming Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay Election this October.

Licarte said seeing several barangays in Davao City declared drug-free, he is challenged to exert more effort to totally weed out illegal drugs in Barangay Sasa.


"In my second term, if the people reelect me, I will work hard to make Barangay Sasa drug-free since it is my advocacy to fight the drug menace in Barangay Sasa," Licarte said.

Since he assumed office as barangay captain of Barangay Sasa in 2018, Licarte has closely coordinated with the local police to fight the drug menace, and their efforts have yielded in the arrest of many drug suspects and seizure of many kilos of illegal drugs.


Putting his life for the sake of his beloved constituents is one of the most admirable characteristics of Licarte.

During the COVID time in 2019 to 2022, Despite the risk, Licarte fulfilled his job by ensuring all COVID protocols were safely followed and all residents of Barangay Sasa got all the aid they could, from food to finances.


Licarte is diagnosed with diabetes, which puts him at risk of COVID if he decides to move around and serve his people as the barangay chairman of Barangay Sasa.

He said with the help of the barangay functionaries and purok leaders in Barangay Sasa, they could serve the people well during COVID time.


Known for being softhearted to those in need, Licarte consider his strong leadership in addressing the concerns of his beloved constituents as one of his significant achievements in his first term as barangay chairman.

"Katong pandemic nibarug dyud ko ug walay hadlok maski paman immuno compromise ko," Licarte said.


Licarte said he is very proud that despite being a neophyte as barangay captain, he was able to protect and provide for the needs of his people during COVID time.
